A video of the Minnesota police shooting of a man, who had been arrested for a gun violation, was released online on Thursday, sparking outrage across the country and a wave of protests.
The video was filmed by Minneapolis police Officer William Dany, who was also involved in the death of Jamar Clark.
Dany was placed on administrative leave by the department following the shooting.

“Officer William DANY, MPR News.
Officer William C. DANY has been temporarily placed on Administrative Leave pending a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the department said in a statement.
“I want to personally thank all those who have sent in photos of the incident, including many people who contacted us to let us know they were in the video.
We have been very grateful to all who have offered their thoughts and prayers for Officer William.
We appreciate them for their assistance.”
The video, taken on January 18, shows Dany reaching for Clark’s gun, as Clark can be heard saying, “don’t shoot me, please.”
Dany then shoots Clark in the back and then grabs his gun, which is raised as he continues to yell at him.
After the video was released, Dany’s attorney said he was not charged in the shooting and was trying to defend himself.
“He felt threatened,” said Dany attorney, David Stankiewicz.
“He was shot at a moment in time when the officer’s actions were unnecessary.
The department has not said if the officer involved in this incident will face any disciplinary action, and no one from the department has responded to the request for comment.
Stankiewicz said the video will not be released publicly because the department is reviewing it.
The shooting came after a week of protests and protests over the killing.
Thousands gathered in the streets of Minneapolis on Saturday to protest the killing and call for an independent investigation into the shooting, which came after an arrest warrant was issued against Dany on December 8 for an outstanding warrant.
