The body of an inmate who was shackled to a bed for months in the coldest prison in the country was found Thursday.
A spokesman for the Florida Department of Corrections said the body was found inside the shower stall in the maximum-security prison at Ocala, about 20 miles east of Orlando.
The inmate was shackling himself with a metal chain and his wrists were tied behind his back, the spokesman said.
A doctor’s note said the inmate died of hypothermia and dehydration.
Officials did not immediately release the name of the inmate or the circumstances of his death.
