— A 29-year-old man shot and killed his girlfriend in Barrington, Ind., police said.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m.
Friday, the Barrington Police Department said in a news release.
The man’s girlfriend, 28-year to 43-year old Elizabeth Buechner, was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said in the release.
Buechcher lived with her boyfriend in Barrstown, a town of just over 9,000 in southern Indiana, police and the city’s fire department said in their statement.
The man was not identified by police.
According to the release, the incident involved a domestic dispute.
The city of Barrington has a “zero tolerance” policy for domestic violence, the release said.
“The Barrington Fire Department was able to respond quickly and with great results to the scene,” the release read.
“It is our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim, as well as the community, during this difficult time.”
