Pomona, California (CNN) Pomona police chief Greg Lacy said Friday he had no idea about the situation surrounding a man being transported to a hospital in the city.
“We were not aware of this particular incident,” Lacy told CNN affiliate KPIX.
Lacy said Pomona was investigating an incident of a missing person and was aware of what was happening when he saw a man walking down a street with a gun.
“The police chief was on the phone with the hospital, but I did not know what was going on,” he said.
“He called me and asked if he could come out to help.”
Police said they arrested Lacy on suspicion of domestic violence.
